With SharePoint and OneDrive, you are able to share your documents and folders to both internal and external users. With external users, the process is simple and straight forward, and doesn't require much work or setup on the user's end.
In this document, you will learn how to share a folder or document to an external user outside of the Discovery Education, and see what the user will see when attempting to view shared documents.Being an "EXT" at DE means you do not fully have a license to edit documents on your LOCAL machine from certain SharePoint's. - EXT's do have full licenses and devices it is a 50/50
If you are having trouble editing a document on your local machine for a PLF or PDF session as an EXT this document is for you!
As an PLF or PDF some documents within SharePoint are available to download but for licensing reasons these you cannot open them within the desktop version of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc....
To download documents from SharePoint and edit them you must download the file or a copy from the SharePoint document library and open within the WEB version of the application of your choice.
A common error you might see is this.
Follow these steps to remediate the issue.
Firstly, find the document you wish to download in the document library.
This is a document library.
Find the file you wish to download.
Navigate to Home - OneDrive and click "Create or Upload"
Upload the desired file.
Uploading the file to your personal OneDrive will relinquish the permissions issue.
Once downloaded you can make edit to your files. Then upload them to the web version of the application of your choice and then you are able to edit.
